Rev. Erwin began his studies in metaphysical principles at age 20 through the College of Divine Metaphysics, culminating with his ordination as minister in that denomination. While living in New York, he attended services with Dr. Raymond Charles Barker of Religious Science and Eric Butterworth of Unity.

His journey to becoming a spiritual minister began with his studies at the Ft. Lauderdale Church of Religious Science with Dr. Bill Taliaferro. He was on the Board of Trustees of the church, and then became the Staff Minister. He held that position until May of 1994 when he started the Society of Pembroke Pines. In 1995 the Society was granted their Church Charter and Rev. Erwin was officially installed as the founding Pastor. He was ordained as a spiritual minister in 1999. He has been a member of the National Speakers Bureau, Florida Speakers Bureau and presently continues to be active in Toastmasters International.

He has spoken to civic groups, chambers of commerce, and large corporate audiences throughout the United States. He is a teacher and lecturer who stresses community involvement, as well as achieving personal and professional success. He has a Degree in Chiropractic and an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy. He is also known as the "Hugman" and the United States Patent & Trademark Office has recognized this by issuing a Trademark.
